Employer Responsibilities
- Provide training on correct clinical waste disposal, update training if changes occur and keep training records
- Recognise their responsibilities under Australian law as a ‘waste generator’ (see the resources in the written policy for detailed information about these obligations)
- Provide dedicated clinical waste disposal bins, located strategically in the areas where clinical waste is generated (such as in the dental area, surgery room or vehicles used for vet work)
- Ensure that clinical waste is collected and processed correctly by a licensed and approved company, in their state or territory
